A virtual gramophone

After some googling, I went into this website:

You scan you goold one vinyls, then play them back with the virtual gramophone. After looking a bit in the source code (it's incomplete) it looks legit and output raw datas... What do you guys thinks ?

We need a DirectShow scanner filter :D

My LPs don't fit on my A4 scanner. Do you think it's possible to use this technique with CDs, too? Maybe using 1200dpi scans or even higher?
