Hello everybody.
I have screwed a little bit my file associations and I don't know how to fix them. I hope you can help me!
I wanted to create a file association manually between folders and a given program. I used first the Folder Options menu item from the explorer. I saw two possible items: "Folder" and "File Folder" (I translate from my language; hope it's right ). So I chose the latter. I created the association and then noticed that I couldn't remove it modify it. I could only set the default association and append more associations.
I tested the association and it worked, so it was ok. But I was curious and launched PCMag's contextEdit. I checked out the ergistry entry for File Folder, and there began my problems. Apparently I modified something, because after that, the default file association o my folders is Find, instead of Explore!! Whenever I double-click on a folder, the find window appears! I have to open the context menu and select Explore everytime I want to go onto a folder!! It's very unconfortable.
If I open the Folder Options to edit the "File Folder" item associations, I see that none of its associations is set as default. In the "Folder" item there are only 2 associations, namely explore and open. I guess they are the ones that appear in the context menu when clicking on a folder, and the explore assocation is the one I want to make default. None of this two associations is selected as default. Setting explore to default does not fix the problem. Maybe I am wrong, and the Explore/Open context menu items do not correspond to these file association of Folder.
The only thing that restores Explore as the default action is to remove all the associations of "File Folder". But as soon you restore them, Find is again the default action.
From where does "File Folder" inherit the Explore/Open context menu items? How could I fix this issue without restoring the OS?
I have seeked the registry, but I only find the key associated to "Folder". Where is the other?
Thanks
