Hello.

I'm having a problem with Xvid. I would like to convert a Xvid movie to a dvd compliant format. The think is both vdub and tmpgenc give me an error when opening the file. They say it's an unsopported format, but i'm able to play it well through windows media player.

Anyone know what's happening?

thanks

Vdub uses VFW, so you have to install xvid codec. TMPGenc could read avi/afs via directshow. Make sure TMPGenc's "Directshow Multimedia File Reader" prority is higher than "AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader". It could be toggeled in Option -> Environnmental Setting -> VFAPI Plug-in.

i installed ffdshow-20020617.exe , OggDS0994.exe , riff-cdxa-filter-test6b.zip , VobSub_2.18.exe , XviD-04102002-1.exe
these came with a xviD video file (no names to protect the innocent) that i dled off the ngs

i can watch this movie in WMP no problem there but i want to watch on my dvd player - so i tried to run xvid dat file thru tmpgEnc - i have made sure that the direct show is highest priority
my error says this:
The error occured when ACM was initialized
I thought maybe i could convert dat to mpeg so i could frame serve but that didnt work
i tried to burn the dat as a vcd in nero but that didnt work

Help me puleez as alot of files posted to the ngs are now in xviD

face piles of trials with smiles. it riles them to believe that you percieve the web they weave and keep on thinking free.....The Moody Blues

why those ugly colours? does that make your post more important?

You're in the wrong section.

ACM means Audio Compression Manager - and guess what, XviD is VIDEO, not AUDIO.

I don't know why you think I'm upset. Maybe because of this?

sarasara ( mailto:sarasara@....com ) has reported this post:

Let's put this straight:
a) this colours don't upset me. They show me the lacking level of experience. That was just a hint that this looks extremely newbie-like.

b) We have forum rules. Let me cite some of which you disrespected:

- 1) Read up before asking! There are tons of guides, FAQs and each forum has a dedicated Q&A thread with additional info.
- 1a) Use the search function before posting. Chances are your question has already been answered.
- 2) Respect the netiquette: Lurk and get to know the forum before you post.
- 3) Keep the focus: Questions outside the scope of a certain forum will either be moved, locked or simply be deleted.
- 4) Be nice to each other and respect the moderator. Profanity and insults will not be tolerated. If you have a problem with another member turn to the respective moderator and if the moderator can't help you send a private message to Doom9.
- 12) How NOT to post on this forum:
[...]Once somebody replies to your thread but doesn't give you exactly the answer you've been expecting you insult them.
-> If you don't comply with these rules you'll have to face a set of sanctions.

c) People like you aren't welcome here.

EDIT: edited out email address on sarasara's request.
