CCE cuts frames ???

hey all,

im re enconding some movies to fit on disc with CCE.however, the results is always 2 frames shorter than the source .. how can that be ?

also i noticed some horizontal lines on edges in a re encoded movie....what can that be ?

I have the same problem, it misses 2 frames at the end of the mpg file encoded with CCE.
I tried top fix it, but i can't have correct number of frames. No idea.:confused:

well how would i do that ? i tried to make s single black frame in premeire, encoded it to mpeg2.but then in meastro....i cant get it down to one frame! i seems to want a umm 5 frame minimum...:( another option is to always add it to the source video.....how can i do that easily ?

i tested some stuff with v2.64 and 2.50. it only happens with VBR.if I do CBR....the total frames is same as source.....really weird...will post more when i tested some more.

How can you be sure the cut frames are at the end? The cut frames could be somewhere in the midde of the movie. Whenever I reencode a movie for DVD-R it always comes out a little shorter than the original and as a result my audio track and video track are different lengths. This is very annoying to me because, although not really noticeable, the audio and video could be out of synch.

If anyone figures this out it would be great. Do does it have to do with the framerate its encoded at like 23 FPS with Force Film?

the thing is that you dont know.....but its weird cause most people dont have this prob. and youre stuck with CCE, since its the only good encoder with multipasses and stuff.....as i said....it only happens with vbr.....i will try dvd2dvdr , see how that works.....i mean if it really works so well...then i should be able to just import in meastro/scenarist and it will be sync , right ? if not ....well then the quest goes on.

Well, made a count of tries with different movies. I loaded the original video file into M2-Edit Pro, and then loaded the cce-converted file into M2-EditPro, and compared the timelines of the first and the last non-black picture of the movies. They were always at the same position, therefore: Is the last non black picture of the movie (endcredit or something else, maybe about 2 or 3 seconds before the end of the video stream, on the same frame position on both versions, the missing frames can't be in the middle or the start of the movie, they're only the last frames (possibly a "rounded" GOP?) of the movie, so don't bother because of sync. ;)

Agree, with Alphaloop, except a couple of frames can be dropped at the start where there is an audio delay of say -80ms (I've noticed this on a couple of PAL movies).

People would correct the audio delay anyway (I would hope) so doesn't affect sync in some unknown way. However it does mean to get exact chapters, the chapter points should be 2 frames earlier than in the original.

I had this effect with a couple of PAL DVDs here: I demuxed video and audio stream with dvddecrypter. The info file said delay -80. I took IfoEdit, "Author DVD", and authored a new DVD with this original demuxed streams. But any of my entered delays in the IfoEdit delay field resulted in a delay which was 80ms less. For example: I entered 17 (just fun values to test the effect), the resulting delay was -63, if I entered -13, the resulting delay was -93. Maybe you could verify this effect with a few tests? This happened not only with -80 DVDs but also with a few others with delays. Most prominent example at this moment: "Blade 2" PAL Version. The german stream has an original delay of +29. If I enter this delay in IfoEdit, the resulting delay is -51. Actually the only way to get in sync is to delete the old try and author a second time and add +80 ms to balance the 80ms subtraction.

After I reencoded the videostream, all went fine when authoring via IfoEdit, the resulting delay was exactly the value I entered.

Well, can somebody explain the effect? No clue... :confused:
