yes, but when you read it where ?
in a standalone ?
if yes, this happen, and this is uncompatibility between your player and the media.
If no, and you read in the burner, it's a bit strange. Try to play with hwd option like DMA in wondows settings, try it alone on an IDE connector (no slave attached). try also with another cable, just to be sure.

well on the PC i haven`t got any problem but when i play them back on a philips player (stand alone) it will do this sometimes. I`m using Philips DVD+R`s maybe this ain`t the best quality then?? Keep in mind that some movies don`t have this problem. I had another theory about the writing speed of my sony dvd+rw because it writes at 2,4X and i`ve read here already that i should write 1X is that correct?
thanks for the help by the way!

you don't have to write at 1X, on the contrary. If it works for you, write as fast as you can, because after all that's the whole point!!!
only write at 1x on crap media. but you should, like everyone else does, make some tests. try to write at 2x if it works.. good. and if not... well choose another brand, or if you just bought 100 dvd's of that really cheap media, burn at 1x.

False.
Even on brand media, 1X writing helps on compatibility on Standalones.
Also check with advdinfo for the brand Id of working media and non working media. Perhaps ther is a difference, even tif the layout is the same.

like i said... IF IT WORKS FOR YOU!!!!
considering he doesn't have compatibility issues.
but if that wasn't the case why would people use hacked firwares to write @ 2x on 1x media???

Now the problem with prassi is that he doesn`t read my SONY DVD+RW, maybe a ASPI problem? can someone direct me to where i can get the updates or what i have to do to try out prassi and get back to you if the problem is solved?
thanks (keeps trying until i DIE)

prassi is not better than nero, nero is not better as prassi...
Some people prefer nero, other prefers prassi, and it seems there are less compatibility issues with nero, considering issues reported in the forum.
When you say "doesn`t read my SONY DVD+RW" you mean your drive is not detect as a burner by prassi ?
Perhpas your ersion of prassi does not inclue support for your burner. Try their site for an update.
You can in the same time try demo version of other products, like nero.
For aspi, you can get forceaspi in the download section, but I feel it's not your problem.

ok i found out with this problem i`m having that when i`m playing a movie on a standalone dvd player that when i get to the part when the movie skips, i freeze it and rewind a few seconds and play the part again and then he plays it correct. Now it seems the DVD players can`t handle the movie for a too long time cause the skipping starts somewhere in the movie and never in the beginning. I`ve tried making the VOBs smaller then 1Gb but found out it didn`t make a difference. Muzt i do something else with the VOB or ifo files cause of the multilayer disc? Nero does give me the message:
a read error has occured do you want to continue?
and after that one:
you are trying to burn a multilayer on a single layer.
maybe i have to do something else with Ifoedit to correct the VOB files??

I have a Sony DRU-120a DVD+r+RW burner and as for media brands , I have been using Phillips, Memorex, Sony, and TDK. Mostly Phillips though as sales have been good for restocking. I find that once a a great while, one of my disk start to skip somewhere in the middle of the movie and to a point that my Sony standalone just kills the movie and errors out. Examining at the disk, I saw no discrepancies. Playing the disk again at skipping point, the movie intermittently plays flawlessly. No problems with playing disk on a APEX. My Sony DVP-S300 is very picky and sensitive. I just theorized that I had a bad disk to begin with. Oh well, i'll take of loss of 1 out of 30. Phillips DVD+R/RWs aren't top grade but it works for me.
Instead of using Nero to burn, use Imgtools 0.99.5 to burn. It's even better than Nero as Nero won't burn if it detects reallocation errors.
As for ASPI drivers, check here. http://www.cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/aspi.cfm

...but Imgtools IS BETTER than Nero. Well...it is dependent on having Nero 5.5.8.0 at the least on your computer and it uses Nero API. But, when Nero doesn't like reallocation errors, imgtool 0.99.5 steps in saves my day. With all the DVD splits I do, I just burn almost all the time using Imgtools. I tip my hat to Coujo. Never needed to use Prassi as I was always a diehard Nero fan since TDK came out with their first VeloCD burner.

funny i've used imgtools once. since i couldn't get the damn DVD to work, i never used it again. i've been burning with nero, and the only problem is that sometimes i get an error saying "could not create disc-at-once" but the funny thing is that, dispite the error it play fine and when ripping i get 0 (zero) read errors. but then again it only happened to me twice and that was always with the same title. a DVD-5 i had previously burnt. don't know why it happened...
