I Just finished encoding the movie Star Wars episode 1, used all the following tools:
Smartripper, DVD2AVI, VFAPI reader, Bitrate viewer, CCE 2.5, Vobedit and Ifoedit.
The movie plays ok on my DVD Player 724 philips (the subtitles are off big time; but thats a different issue).
The movie plays a little diferent on my DVD Player DVP-S330 Sony (old one!) but when I advance to the next chapter it freezes
until I hit the audio to switch to the next stream (spanish) and after that the movie goes on ok.
Now the real problem: Playstation 2 plays the movie but it plays like in frames, like if you where
using the frame by frame on the slow feature on your DVD player.
Also no sound at all from the 2 streams, no english or spanish.

Is there something wrong with this method???
Can I replace any of this programs with something better?
I was trying to use SpruceUp, but since I selected subs it didin't work. probably I never will use subs any more.

Thanks for any help!!

sounds like either poor quality media or you did some funky de-interlacing/ivtc.

As far as media, I used Memorex DVD+R for this movies.
I will be trying a diferent brand soon.
I think that I agree with you on something funky on the procces, that may be a better explanation.

Sounds like the dvd burning program. First make an image of your dvd movie and then burn that image with a good burning program. Try not to use Nero since that may cause the same problems that you encountered.

ramutan,

From what I've read, are you just wanting to copy "movie Only" ?

If so, you seem to be using more applications than you need to.

I rip movie only, and use the following :-

Smartripper
DVD2AVI
AviSynth
CCE (2.5)
Spruce UP
Nero

Burner is a Pioneer A104 (therefore DVD-R format)

Other than that, our systems seem to be fairly similar.

DVD2AVI creates the .ac3 file while CCE creates the .m2v file.

Give it a try.

Thanks for your imput bro, (and yes I want only the movie) thats actually the method I was following;
But the I found a better method (at least I think).
I think that I did something wrong on the procces :D
I just finished last nite Gold Member and it's all good now; PS2, Sony and Philips players playing the DVD:cool:

Thas all I wanted!!!!

One thing is for sure, I did a lot of reading and I realize that menus for me mean nothing; istead I get great quality with only the movie and extra features.

Thanks again for the imput...........:D

ramutan,

Good to hear you've finally cracked it.

I agree with you movie only is best, that way you preserve the highest quality.
