same volume for all my videos

Hi!

I have more than 200 music videos, some from CD, DVD or from Internet pages.

There is only one problem. Almost every video has a different volume. If I want to watch a playlist, I have to adjust the volume after every video.

The only way I found to bring all my videos (I convert them all to mpeg1) to the same volume is following:

Demuxing sound from video with TMPGEnc
Converting the sound to mp3 with BeSweet
Gain the mp3s to 89db with MP3Gain
Converting the sound back to mp2 with BeSweet
Muxing sound to video with TMPGEnc

These are 5 steps, and only 3 of them can be done with batch mode (so I can let my PC work through the night).

I tried some videos this way and the result is very good. But do this with over 200 videos... :(

I also tried to bring them to same volume with the BeSweet Gain mode, but after that they have also different volume.

Can somebody tell me an easier way or a program which can do that? :confused:

Play in BSPlayer. There you can use WinAmp plug-ins, like the TomSteady plug-in. It can adjust the volume to a given level automatically: http://classic.winamp.com/plugins/detail.jhtml?componentId=36297

I wouldn't try to do that, because you are transcoding 2(!) times and quality would be horrible afterwards. If you can live with the quality loss of reencoding, you could:

Demuxing sound from video with TMPGEnc
Gain the mp3s to 89db with John33's excellent Wavegain (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/jfe1205/wavegain.zip) (uses Replaygain; should be the same as with MP3Gain)
Converting the sound back to mp2 with BeSweet/tooLAME
Muxing sound to video with TMPGEnc

Thx for TomSteady-Plugin, but it doesn't work with videos. (I tried it with some videos with different volume and I had to adjust the volume myself because nothing happened.)

It works with mp3s, but not with videos, I think.

And using Wavegain saves no time. I have to do the same steps and also 2 times of transcoding.

Is there no way to gain mp2s or demux with batch or gain audio tracks of videos without demuxing?

It works for videos definetely, I used it and it works without any problems. You must have done something wrong.
The playback must be done in BSPlayer of course.

OK, it works with BSplayer, but BSplayer doesnt play mp3s.

So I need another possibility. The best would be if I can bring the videos themself to the same volume. Another way would be a Plugin for WinAmp which works also with Videos (so TomSteady is not the right).

please if you know any other way to do this, tell me...

I told you, you've done something wrong! I tested the plugin and it works definitely in BSPlayer with videos!

Just say that you don't know how to set it up ;)

OK, here we go:
1) Make sure you have the latest BSPlayer version.
You can download it here: http://www.bsplayer.org
2) Decompress the tomsteady package in the plugins/winamp directory of BSPlayer.
2) Open BSPlayer, right-click on the player, go to options -> preferences, then to "audio".
3) Check "Enable Winamp DSP plugins" and then click on "dsp_tom.dll"
And close the window.

That's it! you'll see the plugin working if you right-click on the playing video and then go to DSP plugin -> TomSteady Automatic Gain Controller. You can also set it up there.

If (and it's a big if - I know) all your videos have MPEG-1 Layer 3 (that's mp3 in case you are wondering) sound, you can use a nice little tool called MP3Gain which I am sure you can find at Hydrogen Audio (http://hydrogenaudio.org/). It's also nice if you have a large collection of MP3s and you want them to all have the same volume.

Yes, I said it works with BSplayer.

BSplayer can play videos and TomSteady works with it. But I tried to play normal audio mp3-files and they don't work with BSplayer (with my version, I think I have the latest one).

And with WinAmp (the program which I use to play Mp3s and also my Videos) the TomSteady-Plugin doesn't work with Videos, only with Mp3s.

I would be happy if there is a way to edit the videos themselves because then I can use every Player I want.

Thx for your help. I know MPEG-1 Layer 3 and I also know MP3Gain. It's a wonderful program and I already used it to bring my mp3-collection (5000 songs) to the same volume.

Most of my videos (about 90 %) are MPEG-files and so the Audio-Streams are MPEG-1 Layer 2.

This is why it is so complicated. I don't want to demux the sound, convert it to mp3, gain it, convert it back to mp2 and then mux it back.

5 steps and 2 times converting to another format costs time and I think also quality.

Is there no program to gain mp2s or to gain videos themselves?
