I recently got a question from a friend about windows xp.
He made various movies with the divx 3.11 codec in the past. (with w
Windows Millenium)
Now he has windows XP but none of the avis can be played, they even aren't recognized; he tried to let divx 5.02 for playback, but that didn't work out either.
He tried the cd's on a PC from a friend, but that gave the same result.
What can cause the problem?

i've switched my OS from win98 to win2k to currently winxp...i've had no problems playing any of my old div3 avi's...has he tried reinstalling the codecs for divx, and the audio codecs as well?

yes he installed the codecs twice already, but what is strane to me that XP doesn't even recognize the avi and it seems not only with one cd (then the cd could be damaged) but with all his 3.11 rips, the rips with divx4 and divx5 are ok.

Make sure you run the "Run Me First!!" thingy with DivX 3.11
