TMPGEnc problem

I am reencoding Shawshank Redemption in TMPGEnc. In the settings I set it to VBR. Now I have the option of selecting ES(Video only) or System(video only) for my d2v files from DVD2AVI. What happens is the ES, which outputs m2v, is very jerky when it gets done. So just trying the system way, which outputs .mpg, it comes out fine. I would use this method, but I can't seem to figure out how to remux the audio and video back together. I have ImgTools and it remux's the m2v with ac3, but it doesn't do anything when I select the mpg and ac3. It won't build anything. Can I reencode in a mpg and remux to a vob file somehow? Is there a program that I am missing that will do this for me?

What do you mean by this? Are you trying to play the M2V file directly on your PC, or is the "jerky" part after you author, burn, and play in your DVD player?

After I reencode in TMPGEnc, I check to see if it went OK in PowerDVD. This is where I see the jerkiness. I need to make the file size of the vob's smaller so I can put them on a DVD-5. I have tried remuxing the mpg file with the ac3 in ImgTools to get my vob, but it won't do it. I see that I can remux in TMPGEnc, but the output file is still a mpg. Don't I need to have vob's to burn back to a DVD disc? That's what I'm assuming.

when you've created a program stream, you will have to demux the video out of that and then you can mux that with your ac3.

I'm confused. Are you saying that after I have already demuxed and reencoded the video into an mpg, I need to demux THAT video stream also?

when you told tmpgenc to encode, did you choose "system (*)" or "Video Only" from the "Stream type" group or radio buttons?

I tried both video only buttons (system and ES) never video+audio. I always get a better picture with system(video only) than I do with ES(video only). I would like to use the system file(mpg) to mux together with my ac3 to make a VOB file but am unsure how to do it, and if it even can be done.

if you created a system file, then it is already muxed, you will need to demux it if you want to mux it with another file.

I don't have the answer but I think we are all missing the point to his question.

He has an mpeg file and a seperate audio file and is asking if there is a tool to convert the mpeg to m2v so he can author it in lets say maestro.

I think the real issue here is "why is his .m2v jerkey". Maybe if you supply more info on the settings your using in tmpgenc we can resolve this.
