Advenced menu editing (menu commands)

I want to have DVD-R layout as close to original as possible.

So, I rip DVD, IFOEdit-it, burned, and it is ok.

But because there are no more bonus stuff, when bonus menu item
is selected, player enters STOP mode.

What I want is that when bonus is selected -- nothing happens!

I see that IFOEdit has all informations about menu, but it is
very difficult to track wich menu item is linked to menu button.

Anyone knows how to track menu commands?

I too am interested in this...

I had to strip all bonus items and trailers for my DVD to fit onto DVD-R -- but now, when those bonus menus are selected, my player freezes. The main menu links to menus that were located on a VOB that is now non-existant. (menus in VTS_01_0 linked to more 'detailed' menus in VTS_02_0 - however, I didn't want any of the items in VTS_02_* on the backup).

How can we solve this problem? I am not sure how to properly make a "0 sized VOB" - what does this actually do? Will this work in my situation where one VOB link to the menu of another VOB?

You could also delete the playback of the bonus material. That way, when you try and go to it, it will just move to the next part of the DVD that would normally play AFTER the bonus material, which usually is the DVD menu.

Instructions:

1. Using IFOEdit, open the IFO file that contains the bonus material.
2. Click on the PGC that contains the bonus material.
3. Click "Delete Playback" button in IFOEdit.
4. Save the IFO file.
5. Include the IFO and BUP files that you just edited on your DVDR.


This basically deletes the playback information for that bonus material. When you try and go to it, the DVD player will read the IFO file and see that there is nothing to play. It will then just move on to the next IFO file that would normally play.

Yes, I can delete playback on PGCs, and it works,
but it works unexpected.

For example sometimes it goes directly to play movie,
and sometimes, just returning to main menu.

I want to know does anybody have any knowledge of messing
with commands inside menu files, because there is solution for
everything.

I have done some minor work with this. I never knew about the delete playback function in IFoedit. What I have been using is VOBedit to open the main menu VOB which is usually VTS_01_0.VOB or whatever. Then you have to look for the VOB ID of the particular menu screen you want to edit. I find this by using DVD2AVi to open the VTS_01_0.VOB and watch the box on the right telling me the VOD IB and cell switches. Then I find the VOB ID in VOBedit and look for "buttons command" and change them to NOP for the button I want to deactivate.

I hope this can get you started. Please note that if you have full motion menus it gets more complicated because the VOB IDs are listed numerous times like hundreds so doing it by hand is not worth the energy.

While there are alot of 'Button Commands' in the VOB-ID due to it being a motion menu, they will all lead to one section in the IFO file. So all you have to do is find where it jumps to in the IFO file and edit that one command.

Yes, I know, but it is easy when it says "Jump to title xx",
or something like that, but there are some very complex code
in there. I am programmer by proffesion, but I don't know what
those other commands do, and there is no any "debugger" to do
step-by-step execution of commands

Can someone give me an example where to find these "button commands" or how to edit a button command? Is this in VOBedit or IFOedit?

In order to explain it in detail I'd have to write a guide and I am still learning too.

But you obviously know that to edit a button's destination/command you have to go to the PGC Menu where the VOB-ID of the menu screen resides or where the button tells you to go to through viewing in VobEdit. There it tells you what button does what through what the GPreg values are or through simple jump commands. Give it a go.
