Not only but that a sample from an actual 1 or 2 CD encode would be nice using the latest Xvid encoder with 'B' frames and all the other gubbins that are meant to make for a better Xvid encode. Then tell me what settings/method you used.

OK so I could learn how to encode all this myself but I want to see something that looks excellent in order to get an idea of what I can expect if I encode something in Xvid with due care and attention to the correct method.

Thus far I have yet to see any Xvid encodes that are up to much. Probably because all the encodes I have seen are from various ripping groups who have not got to grips with Xvid yet.

A 10 meg sample from some up to date 'clean DVD source' would be nice. Something like SW:AOTC (Hmm. Maybe there is a concern with copyright infringement here):)

Or just flame me instead ;)

???

If you believe that anyone here should feel compelled to convince you of anything, I believe you've come to the wrong place.

If you are dedicated to quality encoding and/or like trying something new, you'll test XviD yourself, anyway. If not, I don't see why we should care.

Don't feel offended but people here discuss more meaningful things (well, most of the time;))

OK?

Go and check the alt.binaries.multimedia.buffy-v-slayer newsgroup.

You can download samples, small size (c. 75 mbfor modem users) and hi qual 342ish mb from buf season 6 widescreen caps.

And i won't tell you my settings - until you find some good ones for yourself and want to SHARE.

Enjoy!

LOL!

Do what i did - just lurk around and cadge/copy everyone elses settings (there are billions of threads on settings)

.... then you can be upity like me!!!!!!:)

Seriously - default settings are a good place to start (obviously!)
Also remember to compare like with like - remember postprocessing settings have to be enabled with xvid (i think they are default in divx 5 etc..)

Just follow iago's excellent guide and you won't go wrong.
