if i rip a dvd, then use cce to recompress the movie to fit on a dvd+r, when i try to burn with nero 5.5.9.9, it gives me errors detecting that some of the vob fiels are missing, i.e it used to be vob 1-7 now it's only vob 1-4 and 5 etc are missing. is there a way to burn them onto disk and getting past this error message in nero? i mean making it ignore the error?

im pretty new at this. But you have to use IFOedit do GET VTS Sectors, to re-link the ifo files, with the new ones, get rid of the old ones in the "table of contents" kinda thinger. So it stops checking for VOBs 5 and up.

is there an easy to follow guide that tells you how to do that? the few i've seen so far make me want to scream

try these methods. they seem straight-forward, and they work on my system. but i havent actually burned yet, as im not getting my dvd burner till sometime next week. But ive done these methods just to rip my own images on my hard drive for now, and used Daemon Tools to verify that they work (at least in theory). Tho i think Doom9 to be ultimate source for tutorials, this seems a little more simple and easy to follow (plus its video tutorials).

Though i would suggest continuing to use CCE if you know how for the re-encoding, and not REmpeg2. CCE will produce the better quality.

well the easiest and quickest method i have found so far is to use dvd2svcd. i have a how to somewhere. although that ends with creating vobs with dvd maestro.

i tried it with lotr ex ed on both movie disks and it worked except of course the chapters were off.
