Still working on this darn Friends dvds :(. i want to keep vts01 and vts04, they both contain episodes. this is what i have so far working in winDVD,
1. VTS04 stripped of subs, encoded in CCE, authored with ReelDVD with 2 audio streams, and reinserted with orginal files. It play correctly with newly encoded vob.
2. VTS01 stripped out the subs with ifoedit. Reinserted them back in with orginals and new vts04 and it works properly. This VTS is a multi-pgc containing 7 chains and 6 vob-ids.

PGC1 plays vobid 2
PGC2 plays vobid 6
PGC3 plays vobid 5
PGC4 plays vobid 4
PGC5 plays vobid 3
PGC6 plays vobid 1
PGC7 plays vobid 1

now when i reauthor this in ReelDVD, do i put in the encoded files in the vobid order tehy were in, or should i create a title set that plays like the orginal. I hope i stated this clearly. Let me see if i can elaborate.

I have ripped and encoded each vobid and named them accordingly to their orginal id in teh orginal vobs.

so when i go into ReelDVD so i set it up like

vobid1 --> vobid2 --> vobid3 --> vobid4 --> vobid5 --> vobid6

or should i do it like this

vobid2 --> vobid6 --> vobid5 --> vobid4 --> vobid3 --> vobid1 --> vobid1

the first will make a VTS set the is like the orginal and i have tried it, but when i run ifoupdate on it, i cannot seem to get teh same PGC chain sequence. It will not play correctly with the menu. so is teh second of the two my answer?

please any advice, i been workign on these darn things for 2 weeks now and bout ready to throw in teh towl :(

Is it really necessary to do this set by VOBID? Why not just do each PGC and then place them in order?

Basically thats what i did. I just named them according to their orginal vobids so i didnt lose track of how they were in the beginning. I could always look at the ifo with ifoedit to check the pgc order. Anyway, i did it according to the pgc order and it worked out just fine. Now i just need to figure out how to get teh audio to sync up in ReelDVD>

Find what the delay is for each and then use the AC3delay tool to correct this offset.

Yeppers, that is what i did. I know have copies of these darned friends DVDs with menus and directors comments. Wow, now wasnt that fun. That ac3delay app is a pretty darn nifty tool :).

Well now i can let my wife run crazy on these backups and not worry bout here ruining the originals.

Awesome! Way to go, Sparx! It's nice to see people who actually GIVE a crap about doing things the right way and keeping the menus intact. Also, going the extra mile to search out advice and then LEARNING. I'm glad there are more new users like you around.

PS. I've been working with Eyes`Only on his development of a new tool to make our lives easier on extraction/processing. Especially when it comes to doing multi-PGC titles. Stay tuned! :D
