OK here's what I'm doing, obviously, I'm using the doom9 guide for DVDx 2.0 with CCE 2.50 to create a 704x352 cropped MPEG1 encoding that I then open up in Vegas Video to letterhead and reder as 352x240 VCD complient split in half file.
I'm getting very good quality for a VCD, but I have some issues that concern me, and it seems from my searches and the guides that VCD is not a very popular format. I my self do not want to go to 3 disks a movie or more. Doing 2 CDs per 2 hour 20 min. movies just perfect.
Issues: During the muxing process, bbmpeg, I'm getting underflows, sometimes just a few towards the end (titles?) sometimes a lot at different places. I've search but everything is SVCD tips for fixing. CCE is at CBR 1100 MPEG1. Should it not be fine @1150 or do I really need to drop more then that to fix. Does lowering the quality setting from 25 > 20 or 15 make this worse or effect at all on a CBR encoding?
What are the real effects of underflow? are there allowable levels?
I like using Vegas for the control and spliting and when I get a high quality file into it I get excellent results out of it. Ideally I'd encode right off the Vob, yes it will open and render right off the Vob file, Awesome VCD image quality, But I can't figure out how to get a ripped AC3 to synch up with the video. Would love any tips anyone can offer and please remember I'm doing VCDs not SVCDs. Anyone else try this method,
