Troubles with Independence Day

I'm trying to make a backup copy of Independence Day Special Edition, using the new guide for IfoEdit 0.95. What happens is this: after burning, in my standalone, the movie plays like if it's jumping, like frame by frame, but faster. In my computer, it plays great. Could it be that Independence Day is Interlaced? If so, do I need to deinterlace it, or there is an option in CCE for this kind of movies? In either cases, how do I do it? Thanks.

use pulldown or similar to change the field order from odd to even (or vice versa.

But my movie is PAL, so Pulldown is out of question, right?

P.S. - Another movie I think is also interlaced like Independence Day: The Abyss Special Edition. Am I right?

Just download the pulldown package and read the readme. It has all the options documented.

For your case it would be something like

pulldown.exe input.mpv output.mpv -nopulldown -tff odd (or -tff even)

I know there has to be a program that can tell you which the original is (odd or even), but I the ones I have tried I found unreliable or confusing. I believe CCE always uses the same field order, but can't remember which it is. To be sure I make an odd copy and an even copy then generate checksums for all three (original, odd, even) and keep the one that doesn't match the original.

i have this problem with some films.is there any way in which to tell if your film is top field first ect.
i use bitrate viewer to transfer the info to cce v2.50
every film ive done it say Field topfirst: Yes.
the only way i can find out for sure,is to burn the film,and if its jerky then use pulldown to correct this.then burn the film again.
so i have now made one coaster,and one backup dvd.
surely theres a way to find this info out.

Here's one way.

Open your video in TMPEGenc. Click settings, then the advanced tab. Note the Field Order setting and double click on the Deinterlace filter. Find a high motion scene (lots of combing), then pick a deinterlace method from the drop down box (any will do). Next click hold down the > scroll button to play the video. If the Field Order setting was correct the video will look normal, but if it's wrong the video will look jerky.

Now I just have to remember if top field first equals even or odd field order.

I can't believe they didn't encode independence day with progressive frames. how stupid!
