I have an 894 mb, mpeg-2 file that is 56 minutes in length.

However, when I try burning the xsvcd in NERO (note: I turned off standards complaince) Nero complains (I am using 80 min cd-r) that there is not sufficent space to burn this mpeg 2 file.

Is there any way I can burn this mpeg 2 file onto an 80 min cd-r---without having to re-encode?

This is the guide I am using to burn:

h**p://www.vcdhelp.com/nerosvcd.htm

If you look at the guide in the encoding bitrate section the time written is 74 min? If I change it to 80 min could that solve my problem.

Thanks in advance :)

I am afraid you will have to use a 90min CD-R for that file. Or you can split it to two discs, alternatively, reencode the audio with a lower bitrate.
BTW, are you using Nero to encode the file? The guide you refer to deals with encoding the file, the setting you mentioned won't have an effect on burning. If you used Nero to encode and your file turned out too big, you would want to set the CD size to an even smaller value, not a bigger one :).
