cce multipass

hi - maybe someone can answer some questions for me - thx

in cce can you perform a pass, quit the application ,restart at a later date and continue with the next pass ,using the previous passes

i know the first pass is a vaf file
but subsequent passes are also used to modify bitrate distribution

is it posible to use these passes to further modify the bitrate distribution but at a later date ? so to break up continuous work blocks

I think that you cant because it is not in the cinemacraft's manual.but i dont know if you patch it someway..;)

Im not entirely sure want you want to do, but i think its possible to perform a first pass and then modify the bitrate. I perform the first (One) pass at a arbitary bit rate and then close CCE and restart it. Now i choose 'Multipass VBR' and click advanced. Since you have performed the first pass then now you can play with the bitrate settings to get your desired file size.

First change the global bitrate settings, press 'Set' and wait a few minutes, then the expected output size will be displayed.

at the end of ANY pass i want the option to close cce but still not loose the latest bitrate disribution

there are two outfiles you can save to
is one of them referenced for the next pass

if so i could store it and use it at later date to perform the "third ,forth,...etc" pass just like the vaf file

is that any clearer

i found out you can do more than one pass just for the vaf file. maybe this has a cumulative effect on vaf

therefore creating a 3 pass vaf file can be used to make output mpg in one pass with same quality as 3 pass

Like kevzee says, it has cumulative effect. Whatever you have done, it'll be there. I used to play around wasting my time trying to figure it out how advance setting works. Q factor will be changed when you do more pass comparing to the first vaf file I did. This dues to vaf store video information more detail how to distribute bitrate correctly to each part of video. So, if you're planning of encoding this movie again, you may want to keep this file somewhere. BTW you can't change the aspect ratio once you have done vaf.
