New release of Virtualdub 1.4.13 supports XVID's B frames

As XviD get better and better, it gets more support for software developers. Check the release notes of the latest Virtualdub:

* Added frequently-requested Lanzcos3 kernel to resize
filter. Can't see any difference whatsoever.

[bug fixes]
* Fixed nasty resize filter bug and RGB24<->RGB32
conversion errors on odd bitmap widths.
(Regressions in 1.4.12)
* Fixed audio desynchronization when processing
compressed audio in direct stream copy mode with both
a start offset and deleted segments. Thanks to Cyrius
for the bug report and fix.
* Audio compression system now drops a final partial
block from an audio codec -- Microsoft ADPCM was
producing these, resulting in a runt AVI stream
sample. The new behavior matches that of Sound
Recorder.
* A partial final block no longer triggers the VBR audio
adjustment routine.
* "Previous keyframe" from beyond the end no longer
seeks to start if frames have been deleted or masked.

* Fixed crash in MPEG-1 decoder when playing or saving a
video stream with D-frames or invalid frame types.
* B-frame audio skew support is now also enabled for the
'XVID' video format.

Personaly I plan to dump copletely DivX from system, I can decode my old encodes with ffdshow, so I don't even need to have it around for decoding.

The .hack///Liminality single is great (Edge and Tasogare no Umi), too bad that the opening of the OVA's second ep is not included there...
Still I think from the first .hack//SIGN OST the second Track "the world" is by far the best on the CD.

@soujir0u: There are two different .hack animes. SIGN and Liminality (the OVA). .hack//SIGN is a TV series (I highly recommend it) and has 26 episodes. The game you mentioned has almost nothing to do with the TV series, but with the OVA of which one episode (4 in total) is included with the game's DVD which will be a 4 part. It somehow fills the gaps of what happens in the real world during the games.
The story both times revolves around the MMORPG "The World", but I won't spoil you now if you want to watch it (you definitvely should!). =)

Belgab: What exactly does "special support" for the b-frames mean? What exactly does that DO? Does it just do the audio skew (meaning Avery made the same change you did) or is it something more?

This has been already answered in the VirtualDub forum. And yes, support for XVID B frames in VirtualDub 1.4.13 is exacly the same as with VirtualDubMod 1.4.12.1.
