Hi there.

I just tried to play some of my DivX CDs on my CD-R Drive (Teac R58s)and I found out that the playback on that drive is very very poor. I see many large square blocks on the screen, although the audio is playing correctly.

The movies play fine on my DVD-Drive (Pioneer A106) so I don't think it has to do with the encoding of the movies.

Has anyone experienced the same problem with some CD-ROM Drives ? Is there something I can do to solve this ?

Thanks in advance.

How fast is the drive? I can't imagine a modern CD drive not being able to playback a movie though, my drives only require 4x for playback (both my DVD and CD-RW drives). If you have Nero, use CD Speed to check your transfer rates and DriveSpeed to alter the speed of your drive. I'm sure there are other tools out htere that do the same, I just use these because I have them on my HD already.

I've seen rips that wouldn't play properly even in a 40x drive. I guess they had some insane bitrate spikes that the drive didn't like.

Make sure that DMA is enabled for the CD-Drive.

You can check this in the IDE-Controllers properties page in the Device Manager.
