i can add a 5.1 track to menu but at the moment it won't accept mp3 or wav???
any ideas?

u cannot use mp3 in dvd authoring. Only ac3 or wav files at48khz are acceptable. Even more u cannot mix audio in different formats in menus ie u cannot mix menus with wav files and ones with ac3.

I believe "mixing" of audio types (not including illegal types, such as .mp3, though, obviously) is possible, provided only one type is used per VTS. I've never tried this though, since I always keep my assets consistent, so I can't vouch for this with 100% certainty. DVD Maestro 2914 upwards allows manual VTS allocation (look under project properties dialogue), but since I only have an older manual and helpfile, I've not seen how this is actually achieved, in the authoring sense.

how do i make a wav file at 48khz?
my current rippers only seem to rip to 44khz.
or how do i convert and audio track off a cd into an ac3 track?
