View Full Version : Fake x(S)VCDs automated in D2S?

Ok, this is what I have to do in order to play an xSVCD with chapters in my picky picky *pricky* Sony player:

1. Rip and encode the movie with DVD2SVCD in mpeg-2 with my chosen settings.
2. While the video is encoding, change DVD2SVCD to DVD2VCD in the Misc tab, so that I can change settings in the bbMPEG tab, and mux audio and video as a VCD.
3. Rip the chapter's times with ChapterXtractor, paste them in VCDEasy along with the muxed MPEG file, and create a "VCD" image.
4. Burn the image.

:) Whew.

Any way of this process ever getting automated in D2S, for people like me, whose DVD player "can't" play SVCDs, but still want an mpeg-2 encoded movie, with chapters?

Thanks!

The only thing I can think that MIGHT and I do mean MIGHT work as I have never tested this. I am only guessing and maybe you could try it.

Have DVD2SVCD finish the SVCD as normal.
Load the D2S file.
Load the VCD.ini file.
Use recover from muxing and cutting after you have changed bbmpeg to the settings you need. You will probably have to change the force mux rate manually, watch it for overflow errors.
Hopefully it should then use VCDXbuild to create the VCD/SVCD.
I don't know it it will create the chapters, but if before you did this you saved the CUE files you could just copy them back over and your chapters should be back, maybe.

I have no idea if any of this would work, but give it a try.
