Problem with my new Sony DVD500A

I have a couple of questions... I am familiar with the whole process of ripping, then finally burning. I have been using my pc for everything, and then using my Mac with a super drive to burn the image. I now am trying to do everything on the pc. The problem seems to be burning to a DVD+R disc. I have been unable to burn using Nero, the imgtool (uses Nero, I know), and also unable using DVD-Decryptor. I have been however, been able to burn using a DVD+RW (Sony brand media), and a DVD-R (pioneer and apple brand media). The DVD+R that I am trying to use is a Memorex brand.

P.S. I am using multiple images to insure I am not having a problem with one image.

Get rid of the Memorex media. Get something like Verbatim DVD+R instead. And use either Nero or RecordNow Max 4.5. I've had great success with the Verbatim +Rs

I have been using RecordNow Max 4.5. to burn my DVD+R and DVD-R dvd's on my Sony DVD500A. No problems at all, but then I didnt have any problems using the RecordNow program that came with the drive. I am using generic dvd blanks that I bought off of ebay.

funny i have the same drive and i got a bit of everything...
1 disc burnt sucessfully.
1 for the garbage
1 with errors (something like files not matching,)

the first and the last work on my LG DVD.
i'm also using the record now that came with the drive.

Maybe burning a successful dvd with the new Sony depends on if the moon is in correct alignment with the earth? Seriously I havent had very many coasters with my new Sony, I really like it.

just sent another one to the garbage...
what the hell is wrong with this shit???
i've done an image with dvd decrypter and burnt it using the same prog.
now the writer can't even recognise the disc.
i thought the dvd decrypter was the best option to copy a DVD5!!!
guess not!!
must find another proggy.
can it be related to the fact i can't create an image with the writer using dvd decrypter??? i did the image with my pionner 116,
which by the way can read the dvd.
maybe it's an incompatibility.
does any1 have NE suggestion???
i'm getting pretty annoyed... burnt 4 dvd's and only one with 100% success, even though 2 of then can be read on my standalone!

I attempted burning an image with DVD-Decryptor on a DVD+R. It messed up... that was the last time i tried. USE RECORD NOW MAX OR NERO!

i have the version that came with my dvd, but maybe the new versions have some stability issues solved or something!!

sh** also tried nero v 5.5.9.17 but no good. i don't know why but the recording didn't finish, i,e. only a part of the cd was burnt.
so that shortens my list to record now max, only.

i get an error message when i launch dvd decrypter, while trying to rip using my dvd writer...

maybe thats the incompatibility that is making my writer ruin my dvd's!!!!

try dvdxcopy see how you like it. some bash it but works good for me ;)

or try to update the firmware rev of the sony to 1.0f
I had my drive with 1.0d shipped and of 5 bulkcrap discs it couldnt recodnize 3 of them so there where no dvds in the drive as it would say. and the other 2 burned and stopped in the middle of it.
but I updated the drive to 1.0f yesterday and have burned 2 dvds so far without a problem and those dvds are the ones that it couldnt recodnize.
so maybe your in luck with the memorex if you upgrade to.
