View Full Version : No matter what - black borders left & right...

After converting more than 20 DVD’s with DVD2SVCD (v. 1.1.0b1) I thought that I was getting quite used to how this great app. is working.

Till the other day… Suddenly every encoded file comes out with black borders left & right (se the attached screenshot).
Not matter what aspect ratio is chosen in the conversion tab, all encodings look like a 4:3 picture in a 16:9 frame. Seems like the original picture (in this specific case an anamorfic 16:9 DVD, the godfather part 2) is squashed into a 4:3 format by DVD2SVCD and borders are added to fill the rest of the 16:9 screen.

To get sure that the problem isn’t software player related I’ve burned the bin file that DVD2SVCD created to a CD-r and played it on my standalone DVD player (pioneer NS-DV88) but the borders to the left & right hang about.

I’ve tried to manually edit the Avisynth script but the result remains. I’ve reinstalled DVD2SVCD and tried older versions but did not succeed.
Even DVD’s what I’ve ripped with excellent result earlier now have the same borders after a retry.

Looks it might be a configuration problem with my hardware or a conflict caused by some other software. But before reinstalling the whole system - I'm hoping there is someone who experienced the same problem and is willing to help. Thank you in advance! :)

I'm running:
Compaq Presario 7126EA
256m RAM
GeForce 3 grafic card
Win XP home edition
DVD2SVCD v 1.1.0 b1

This might be your problem. Try switching it to 16:9 borders added encode as 4:3.
Your players don't seem to support the 16:9 tag of CCE.

Also play the ripped VOB files in WinDVD and see if there is anything wrong with them.
