Access violation

Using DVD2AVI to prepare the vobs, during the project saving process, the feild 'info' in the status windows periodically shows 'A.E.' and then the .d2v file cause an access violation when (trying to be) opened (using GKot). Smartripper also had difficulties unlocking the drive during the ripping process as multiple re-load were required before success.

Any ideas?

Alternatively, is there an alternative to DVD2AVI in the GKnot process?
I have tried everything I know, but for some reason the error keeps coming up. Have I possibly found the only uncompressible DVD???:( :D

Could you state the name & region of the dvd?

Have you tried ripping with VStrip, vstrip can also make the d2v at the same time...maybe worth a try.

Ummm, I borrowed the DVD so cant re-rip it from the DVD, can I re-rip using V-strip from the HDD to create the .d2v.

Its a bonus disc in LoTR 4 CD extended set, the 'National Gegraphic, Lands of Middle Earth' disc. Not sure about the release as all I have now is the vobs, but its the first PAL release in Aus.

Cant seem to get around the access violation, used vstrip but as far as I can tell it doesnt create a d2v, only a d2s. Re-ripped the volbs using vstrip to then create the d2v from them, no success.

Using Xmpeg was about to get around the .d2v problem, however my unfamiliarity with Xmpeg using Xvid resulted in terrible qaulity. Will use Divx now but expect a similar result with Xmpeg. Any other ideas besides xmpeg and Gknot to try???

VStrip does create d2v files...whats a d2s file? It does it with the:
-2
option. If that option isnt there in your version download it from www.maven.de

a d2v file is just a text file, so once created open it up in notepad & see how it looks.

Ha, d2s is DVD2SVCD project file. Probably you use the vstrip from DVD2SVCD. Download Vstrip GUI, it is (relative) easy to use.
