Once i did a great "mistake", and installed DivX 3.11, and then DivX 5.0.2 over it. ;)

Nothing is that bad, but now, suddently, when i moved the postfilter options down to minimal (this is also so called "quality" level, but its bullshit naming - this just blur the movie even more, so, making the mpeg blocks corners blurry are probably supposed to "increase" the resulting image quality or what the hell  ) - but W/O this the movie looks GREAT!

I was amazed! Too many unseen before details and - holly shit, what a sharpness!!!

Desplite the small size on screen, the movie (Queen of the Damned, BTW) visual aperance nearly starting to be comparable to DVD quality! (i have some more (142) DVDs, so i know what i talking about ;) )

Unfortunetely, this movie cant be resized for fullscreen playback. There are the known jagged edges, so, it just must be played non-scaled, thats all.

Luckily, BSPlayer can do that - just for fullscreen switch to resolution the movie are made for, and - viola - you (ATM sadly only teoreticaly, as BSPlayer have some troubles there) get a great picture, never seen before.

There are only there problems now.
I reinstalled my windows and i have no idea, how to convice the DivX to just DISABLE the unwanted annoing mpeg block-blurring.

The second problem is, that at least BSPlayer b490, altrought allowed me to play a 512 pixels wide movie on 512x384 screen (hoooray!) has a bug there, the image is verticaly stretched to about 1/3 its own height... Latest b492 even crash, when you try if convice to use 512x384 res, so, dont try that!

The third problem is, that resolution 640x480 looks ugly. Why, when 512x384 not? Because of microlines! The damn pig*uckers on nVidia just forgot to allow us to enable double-refresh, to we can see this resolution as nice, as the 512x384 is. (in fact, because this is higger resolution, it will look even better! And yes, even on 17-19"...!) Solution? Ask these, until they allow to do that. ;) (mails i got ;) )

Want email to some nVidia suckers? ;)
Or can anyone help me with the DivX filters settings - eg. how to hack them to they do NOT blur the image anymore?
Thx.

At least for the v3.11...! Please!

i think its the bilinear filter of the video overlay what causes the smoothing when you resize the video, not the decoder filter. and without it it would not look THAT good. (if resized, of course)

Well, but how did you then explain me the great improving of the picture, details level and sharpness then?
I saw it.
Its beautifull!

And about the bilinear filter... Im affraid that its even trilinear filter used there, but try something REALY sharp, with nice SHARP corners, resize with even trilinear filter.

You simply WILL see the jagged edges.

And thats what i want. Get from DivX as sharp picture, that jsut cant be resized. There is not need for resize. You can change the resolution and you have it all - sharp and beautifull - no NOT resized, but still - FULLscreen.

Dont sound it nice? :D

well, i dont want to say that it looks better with the filtering, i want to say that the difference between resized and not resized playback is caused by the gfx cards filter and not by the divx quality settings.
or do you mean you see a filterd picture even if you dont resize the video ?

as for resized or not-resized playback its more a matter of taste i think. i always used XXXx576 for dvd playback over my tv-out but had to switch to 1024x768 after i bought another card and the difference is almost zero.

Yea, i going to say, that there is STILL the damned filtering, even you dont resize the movie!!!

This is very important part of the truth.

So, you NEVER EVER seen quality DivX video. I did. It shock my deeply. The diference is simply too big to miss.

The problem is, that very sharp video is just "nonscalable", cause you will then see sharp layers. So, there are postdecoding filters, that blurr the image.
Again, my friend once need play DivX on SLOW machine and then he removed this default filtering, and its enought - DivX video then plays on much slower computer that ever - not to mention being much more nice, sharp, detailed and simply - beautifull.

The problem is, that no-one seems have a clue, how to do this with recent codecs. And the FFD show autor dont answered me, damn.

So, even it means i have to redone all this and install DivX 3.11 to play DivX3 movies (there are most SBC DivX3 movies, while only few DivX5 ones - there se blurry from the first sight), its worth the hassles.

There are no words to express the diference. You have simply to see it by yourself - ofcourse, only if you have gou a SHARP eyes, extremly sharp monitor and GFX card - eg. you have to hack you equiplent to see sharp image - removing LC filters from GFX card and monitor too, and changing the cable connection to monitor... as i did ;) :D

As I saw it is problem with some NVidia cards. There is no visible difference by ATI or 3DFX cards.

Ah, you mean the old problem with the TNT2 cards, where the video is blurred, until you tweak into the registers the type of opening overlay, right?

Yea, this is a good thing, W/O it you hardly can read letters into, for example, the Doom.avi funny anim, what showing Bill Gates get shoot into Doom for saying Winblows! :D ;) :p

But thats not this case. This video is clear for me, GF2Ti card is there and this problem is not known to me anymore.

I need to get rid of the damn filtereing, whats done by SW side !
