View Full Version : 6 hours of blackness

I'm converting divx to dvd, using virtual dub to extract audio, ac3machine to transcode to 2 ch dolby surround. I then resize and re-encode using tmpgenc+ at around 1100 kbps 2-pass vbr. Add chapters at 10 minute intervals with spruceup and burn a 800-900 mb mini-dvd. Results are usually great (provided the source isn't too damn small to start with).

However, I often seem to run into a problem with ntsc divx source (I always convert to pal): in tmpgenc, it simply adds a very long period of blackness after the last frame. Takes 3 extra hours to analyze and another 3 extra hours to encode. Cutting the last frame with virtual dub seems to fix it, but I'm wondering if anybody else has run into this? Any other workarounds (like setting the end-frame in tmpgenc)?
