View Full Version : Forced Subtitles

Momentarily I work this way:
1) I rip in Movie Mode with stream processing, just the video stream and the one audio stream I want
2) I demux the AC3 with Vobedit
3) Either I demux the video stream with vobedit or I reencode the videostream via dvd2avi and cce, result is the same: a .m2v file
4) I take Ifoedit, feature "Author DVD", to build a new DVD structure from the two (video and audio) files.
(Last would be IMGTools for image creation and dvddecrypter for burning, but isn't important here now)

Now my "problem": There are movies which have subtitles automatically and only displayed at some positions when the actors speak some foreign language. I read that those are called forced subtitles. If I read correctly, they are just the standard subtitle stream with a "forced flag" at some positions to automatically switch on themselves. Am I right?

Or are the forced subtitles a separate subtitle stream which I simply have to remux instead of the complete subtitle stream?

In case of flags: where are these flags saved? Inside the Ifo? Inside the Subtitle stream itself? If first is right: I guess I lose them when I just mux the video, the audio and the standard subtitle stream via "author DVD" and finally just have a movie with switchable complete standard subtitle(?)

In which way do I have to change my procedure to catch correct forced subtitles? Is it possible at all, or do I have to take an annoying way via SubRip and Maestro...?

in the VCDhelp.com forum (http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=126316&highlight=)

They are a second substream.

If you click on the substream in ifoedit before you burn it.

You can change it to forced (I think that will work)

Oh, well, thanks! :)
Are they always seperate substreams?
Does anyone know how to change it to "force" inside Ifoedit?
