I just finished my first Conversion with G-Knot and I thought it came out pretty good. The movie is "Menace 2 Society". I picked this movie because it has alot of moving scenery and is very dark at times. I thought this would be a good test of the Divx 5 codec. Ive included some screenshots to see If the experts can help me get an even better copy or tell me if this is as good as it gets. Thanks in advance for any tips.

1. Here are the resolution settings I used after the compressablility check in G-knot:http://skarface.bei.t-online.de/g-knot%20settings.jpg

2. Here is a pretty nice shot: http://skarface.bei.t-online.de/menace2.jpg

3. In the first scene I noticed some discoloration in the background this is what annoyed me the most cause it happens throughout the whole movie here are some shots: Look at the ceiling: http://skarface.bei.t-online.de/menace1.jpg

Screenshots of the Gknot GUI are not usually as helpful as copying and pasting the Gknot.log and .avs script into a post. You might consider doing that. (If you post the .avs, leave out the many comment lines that begin with "#".)

What was the video bitrate?
Which DivX Pro features were enabled?
What are your DivX post-processing (playback) filter settings? (Start...Programs...DivX...DivX (Pro) Codec...Decoder Configuration)
Does the exact same annoying features occur with another .avi player?
Do you see these same annoying features when you view the .avs script in an .avi player or in Vdub?

Oh damn I deleted all of the log files :( I had a bitrate of 1894/kbps. As far as the Divx pro features I have DivX Pro 5.02 Corporate Edition Dolby AC3 codec. I found that the settings were default. I cranked them up a bit and now the movie looks fantastic!
Hard to tell the difference between the original. I am definatley impressed with the Divx 5 codec. Thanks for the reply man!

By DivX Pro features, I meant b-frames, GMC, Q-pel. But glad to know your trouble was post-processing related, and that you're happy.
