No, Gknot's done when it assembles the muxed .avi file.
Splitting is in Doom9's DivX 5 guide. There are a lot of hyperlinks in the guides, and with the many pages, sometimes it can be difficult to find the right page.
You'll find the splitting section in Step 3 of the top web page of the DivX5 Guide (Guides...DivX...DivX 5). Here's the direct link (http://www.doom9.org/gknot-split.htm), showing you how to split an .avi file with Nandub.
You might also want to take a look at
AviSplitCalc (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/SupportUtils/avisplit.zip). This Nandub front-end calculation tool can often make splitting an .avi file into multiple chunks a little easier.

@jggimi
I tried AviSplitCalc and had a problem with the every file after the first one having the sound out of sync. It also couldn't split files over 2 gig. Have there been any bug fixes or improvements lately? Thanks.

@belli
I don't know when you last tried it. The release of AviSplitCalc on Doom9's downloads is 3.42, which is newer than the release I've used (3.3). The 3.42 zip dates from May 7, 2002. The attached documentation states:Support:
