View Full Version : CCE stalls yet mpv seems complete ?

I'm having lots of stalls lately where CCE 2.5 just quits at different times in the encoding process.
Now I checked my mpv file today and renamed it to .mpg and looked at it through mediaplayer. The movie was complete and seemed to be of the expected quality. Would it be ok to just skip to multiplexing ?
I think CCE hung around 70% so could it be that maybe 2 VBR passes were completed yet, therefor resulting an good quality ?

About the recent crashes, I've performed a total defrag, even installed XP besides Win 2000 . XP was installed on a new partition and with it I converted 1 movie without problems, second one (failed) is the one I'm talking about now.
I'd rather not go through the encoding process again since this movie already flunked 3 times under Win2000 .

Memory seems ok in memtest.

Underneath is my log:

CCE freezing is a fairly common problem. Do a search and read the many, many posts on this subject.

Having what appears to be a complete MPV makes sense if you think about it. You told CCE to do 4 passes. So at 70% this would be somewhere in pass 4 or at then end of pass 3. Well CCE is writting the MPV during the prior 3 passes as well and just tweaking as it goes. You would have a complete MPV even at 25% complete. It just won't be as good as when it's 100%.
