Ifoedit DVD Error when trying to play

When I run play in Ifoedit 0.94 I get the error message "this version of the application cannot run using the current DirectShow components.
Please use the DVDSampl.exe application".
What does it mean? What am I missing (apart from a brain) and how do I get over this?
What Directshow components am I missing? How do I replace them?
Where do I get DVDSampl.exe from?
Any help and/or advice would be well appreciated.

Go to http://www.doom9.org/ at the download section.
Look at the filters. I think that Ogg Vorbis Direct Show filter implementation is what you need.

Try to get the 0.95 version of IFOedit for a start and tell me what version of windows you're running (98, Me, XP)

Thanks for taking the time to try and help. I've tried both 0.94 and 0.95 - same result. I'm running w2k with a twin processor board with 2 matched Intel p3/600's. I have a plextor 12/10/32 and a pioneer a04 on one channel and two hard drives on the primary.

I'm not 100% sure beacuse i had the error message before..

You had to download a microsoft application. I think it was the latest version of activeX.. the dvdsampl.exe is contained within that....As I say I have had it before ... i think this was the answer

just in case you have not sorted out your error yet, try reinstalling your DirectX component (should be about version 8).

Using WINDOWS 2000 You can normally tell if you have a problem with this component by going Start-Prorams-Accessories-System Tools-System Information, then select Tools-DirectX Diagnostic Tool, now by selecting the different Tabs, look at the notes section at the bottom of the screen. This should tell if you have a problem with any DirectX files.

If your DirectX is an older version try downloading the latest from the link below.

Hi Phil,
sorry for the delay in replying but I've been offline for a couple of weeks with the holidays. Thanks for the advice regarding directx but I've already been down that road (dead end) I'll keep on plugging away and get there in the end even if it means a complete reinstall or even a new system!!!! Ahhhgggg :)
