Hi Folks,
after updating my D2S from .0.9 to .10 my CCE and D2S (together !) crashes all the time when trying to convert DIVx AVI files. DVD doesn't tested.
Known issue? Some solutions? Bugfixes in near future? Otherwise i have to "downdate" to 0.9 version again.

It is not bad idea you to post your log file.
If your divx file has an audio, try to demux the video only and load it to D2S. You should disable the audio encoding, if it is possible.

O.K. here it is. but for me it seems to be not very interesting.
It simply dies.

I hate to add to this post....especially with the "demanding" demeanor with which FRANK_IX has posted. But I have been using DVD2SVCD since AVI2SVCD was added. I have done hundreds of flawless (ok, near flawless) encodes. And I am extremely Happy with this program. I certainly appreciate all of the hard work, and time, DVD2SVCD and others have put into this program. With little or no gratitude for his(their) hard work.
With that said, the only reason I am adding to this post, is because I am having an amazingly similar experience. D2 finshes the audio and pictures conversion. And actually launches CCE's "Open" window. But does not make an "entry" in the "file name" box. Instead it hangs there.... Eventually DVD2SVCD says (not responding). I have tested this on several AVI files. And found the problem to be more intermittent than file related. I have my virus scanner disabled (as always)

I have also found that by eliminating the directory and starting over It will usually continue.

Sorry. I don't want to be understood in this way. I am really happy with d2s until now. I already encoded several (nearly 100) dvd's or avi's. And I don't know why, but since the update, my d2s doesn't work any more. It always stops when cce should start to work. But it doesn't. IMHO it can be a fault in the avs-file, isn't it??

Try completely un-installing and re-installing CCE.
You may also want to completely un-install DVD2SVCD as well.
I have heard recently of simply doing a re-install of CCE seems to have solved many issues.
Make sure the directories are gone. Sometimes CCE and DVD2SVCD can leave stuff behind.
DVD2SVCD not responding at that point is not unexpected. It's trying to launch and feed CCE, but somewhere in the middle something gets stuck. This makes DVD2SVCD continue to try and then not allowing other commands, such as close, to be used.
Try to play the avs file in media player. You won't hear anything, but hopefully the video will play.
If it continues to happen post your Avs file. It's a simple text file.
If this doesn't see what happens if you check safe mode.

First of all, thank you Mark for your prompt reply, your opinions and advice are appreciated.
I had already done a complete uninstall. Eliminated the directories and all. I did it again, just to be sure. The AVS file plays beautifully. Sometimes a simple recover will work. Other times a complete restart is necessary. The problem is very erratic. I made a test clip. And tried it ten times. It failed three out of the ten times. But it worked perfectly 7 out of ten. without any changes. I thought it might be related to AVSMon.dll. So I tried it without it. It failed four out of ten times.

@Frank_IX
Beside to post the log file in my reply there was second suggestion - to demux the video only from the divx. Did you try it? If you don't know how here is short guide: Start the VirtualDub. File-Open video file. Load the .avi. Audio tab-select "no audio". Video tab - select "Direct stream copy". File - Save as avi. Give to this avi a name, click save. At the end hopefuly you will have an avi without sound. Load this avi to avisynth and avs to CCE. Good luck.
@badbert
I've experienced this, but with DVD source. Made a little research and found the following. When start from the beginning D2S convertion usually no problem (very rare). When edit the avs after DVD2AVI - usually problem:D . When edit the avs as part of video encoding (just before CCE) - no problem at all. Unfortunatelly I have very low experience converting from divx. I like my divx collection, don't want to convert. But from several days is growing the number of posts from people with problems converting divx (usually with ac3). I think the prob is avisynth audio related, but I am not sure. Therefore probably it is not bad idea to load only video. Well will see...

I have the same problem with DVDs and i even didn't use frame selection.
I always use quite simple avisynth scipts (only resize, addborders, etc.)
After reinstalling 1.09 B3 everything worked fine again...strange....

@badbert you have quite a few filters in there. Cut them down to alomost nothing and see what happens. If it works then add them back one at a time to see where it fails.
You may also want to try a little experiment.
Uninstall DVD2SVCD.
Install Version 1.09b3
Copy the avisynth.dll file out of your System32 directory somewhere else.
Uninstall 1.09b3
Install 1.10b1+3
Copy the avisynth.dll file out of your system32 directory somewhere else other then where you copied the first one.
Move the first one into your system32 directory overwritting the exhisting one.
Try it with the old avisynth.dll file
Some new functions like Blur2 may not work as well or at all with this version.
Let's just try to elimate the avisynth.dll as a possiblity for this problem.

Hello again,
next point in problem list:
I have 2 or 3 (i think DivX 5) Avi files, which still make problems.
No error but wether the mpeg file nor the bin works. Screen keeps dark and no sound at all.
One of these files have even ac3 sound. but that seems to be no problem IMHO.
hmmmmmmmmmm............
