I for one can't see any errors in your log. Have you tried playing the .avs file to see if it's ok there? You can either open it in virtualdub or you can actually play it with a normal player (wmp for instance).

M L
25th November 2002, 18:27
yes the .avs file worked fine in virtualdub.

I think I will try and reinstal the divxcodec.

Edited by manono-I asked you once nicely. I won't ask you again.

oki, I've remoed te pro codec and installed the codec from this site and it sems to work fine but I messed up when burning CDs at the same time as the encoding.
I accidently aborted the encoding so I got just 2min of the second pass but the picture and sound was ok this time.
The problem is gone no so.. I think..

Edited by manono-I asked you once nicely. I won't ask you again.

Im not sure what u mean, maybe the s-word?? In Sweden we don't realy care aboute that word so I didn't think u would.. sorry

Hi-

Yes, the s-word, and earlier the f-word. This is a wholesome family site.:)

Good, I hope the problems are solved for you. Come back if you have other problems.

Thanks... family site? :)

Hi-

Since you brought it up again, I'll let you know my thoughts on the subject, as I've been thinking about it some more. I use both of those words in everyday conversation (much to my wife's chagrin). So please don't think me a bluenose or prude. But here everything written is for public consumption the world over, and I'm sure that you'll agree that there are many people that might object to the use of those words. Here there is every type of person reading and learning, children and people of strict religious beliefs, and we don't want to alienate them.

Rule 4 of The Forum Rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm) is fairly clear on the subject. So where do you draw the line? For example, I've used the word "damn" a few times in the forums. Well, American broadcasting has seven forbidden words not allowed to go out over network television (if the rule is still enforced), and you used two of them. What might be OK for ISO News or IRC might not be OK here, at least the way I see it. And as a mod, I get paid to make the tough decisions.:) I'm pretty sure that if you had used the same word in your original subject line in some of the other forums, not only would it have been edited, but you would have been handed a strike as well. Maybe some other people have opinions on the subject. S-word OK, and F-word not OK? Anything goes? I'll stick to my opinion unless and until someone convinces me differently.

No hard feeling, though. You're always welcome here M L.

 Family Site? Gotta stop telling everybody that I encode a lot of p... , ahem, 'Adult' DVDs then :p  Seriously, they can be quite a challenge to encode, as they almost always are NTSC interlaced!

On the other hand this discussion reminded me of the Blues Brothers movie. They say a bad word to a nun, who starts hitting them, and for every bad word they say she hits them more and more. Great fun, as well as some really good music.

Are you really polling the community? I wouldn't want to be in violation of forum rule #3....:)
By the way, manono, I know I'm a little late on this, but congrats on the mod appointment.
Really interesting stuff, and a lot of good information going around this forum :D.

(Aw, shoot, have to go back to work now....;) )

Hi-

Are you really polling the community?

Sure, why not? What I'm really curious about is whether or not s**t is commonly used in Sweden in "polite company", as M L says. You know, like around parents and other grown-ups. And what the standards are in other parts of the world.

I just looked up rule number 3. Eek-I'm in violation. I guess it's OK until Doom9 or TheWEF stop by and strike me for getting off topic.

Hey hakko504-does your Mother know what you do in your spare time?;) I love the first Blues Brothers movie. John Belushi, you could have become one of the greats.

@manono

No, she thinks I got my bad elbow by playing tennis. :D By the way, i didn't say I watch them, I just encode them...

As for the s-word, I'd say that you can get away with using it in Sweden and noone thinks anything about it, but that is very much depending on how, why, when and where you say it. I'd definitely say that it isn't quite as strong as it's english counterpart. Any variation of the f-word though can never be considered OK, maybe with the exception of actual description of 'wild mating'.

What I'm really curious about is whether or not s**t is commonly used in Sweden in "polite company", as M L says. In Germany, a lot of young people are using this word as a very "mild" four letter word. I think one reason for this is because some people don't understand it at all - and for all others it just sounds nicer than our native four-letter words. I had a hard time suppressing that word when I was in the States for an exchange program :D

Ok, I do use it in everyday-talk(I'm having problems spelling some english words so I use others, might sound fuunny but.. hehe).
It's used as a enhancer or whatever, if someting is god ve could say s**tgood, skitbra in Swedish and it means it is better then just good.
My grandpa often ask me how annything can be s**tgood??
It's not used on teve but in everyday-talk its common.

I have another problem, i dont get any sound in my new project and the audistream is mpeg1 an comes out as a .mpa file and it results in a 480kb .mp3 file and no sound in the movie.
I solved this before by renaming it to .waw or something and I dint remember so is there any other solution?
