I've been doing this for a little while and every now and then I have questions about certain techniques. What is the purpose of "pulldown"?? I use dvd decrypter and separate what I need into *.m2v and *.ac3 files. If it is small enough, I directly import them in Maestro. I'm NTSC, Region 1. Can somebody tell me what I'm missing. Thanks:)

Go here

http://www.doom9.org/mpg/pulldown.htm

This makes it possible to encode a movie at 23.976fps to save bitrate and then you can run 'Pulldown' on your m2v file which inserts flags into the stream which tells your standalone player to repeat certain frames to make it a compliant 29.97fps. So you get your 29.97fps m2v file but without wasting bitrate on the extra 6 frames. So you get roughly about 25% increase in quality.
