I have a movie which is a few megs too big.

I have cropped off the titles at the end, using 'VobSplitter' and this worked fine (I have done it before an I know that it works).

However, the total size a still a bit big.

I then had a go at taking a few megs from the beginning of the first VOB (again using VobSplitter)

It seemed to work as I can play the actual VOB using PowerDVD.

However, when I try and play the whole DVD (VIDEO_TS.IFO) I am told 'Unrecognised Format'

I then used IFOEdit and tried to work with the new set of files and am told that the VOB doesn't contant a 'Nav Pack'

What can I do?? There must be a way to remove the first few mins of a film... Can anyone help??

Any info appreciated

Jon

hi mate, you could use the create ifo button that ifoedit has to make new video_ts.ifo and vts_01.ifo ,just open up ifoedit and press create ifo button, then select the first vob in the set you require and it will do the rest , I have done this to get a movie to go onto two discs, for some reason the 2 disc option in vob extras would not work correctly for me , I am probably doing something wrong but what the heck , it worked , if you want menus etc I cant give you that answer as Idont bother with those :sly:

Hi Mike,

I think you might have misunderstood my problem.

I have already created new VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_01.IFO files and stripped out some of the audio tracks and VOB_IDs.

But the resulting total size of the VOBs is around 4.7gigs, so I need to do something to get it to fit on a DVD-R.

By using 'vobsplitter' I was able to remove around 200megs from the end of VTS_05.VOB without impacting any of the film.. All I lost was the end credits.

But its still a little too big.

I then had a go at using 'vobsplitter' on the beginning of VTS_01.VOB.

I eventually got it so that the files were small enough to fit on a DVD-R, but I hadn't lost anything significant from the start of the movie.

But it seems that 'splitting' off the front of a vob 'breaks' it in some way.

I know that the '2 disk' option in IfoEdit will work.. BUT.. There is no chapeter mark in the point I want to split.. if I did the split with this feature, I would loose about 10mins from the start of the film.

I find it hard to believe that there isn't a simple tool to do what I want!

Thanks again for your help..
