I recently following the guide on this site tried to convert Footloose to a Divx5 format. The problem is my sound is WAY off. I mean it is off by at least 15 seconds (to the extent I basically can't determine by how much).

Can anybody provide any advice?

This happened to me as well. I think there is a problem with the film. Just make sure that your audio is delayed by 12.6sec exactly.

Open Nandub, load the xxx_Movie.avi file that GordianKnot generated, choose Video->Direct Stream copy, Audio->MP3 audio and choose the mp3 file. Then in Audio->Interleaving select 12600 as audio delay.
