ac3 sound on miniDVD

could anybody tell me if ac3 sound will play on a standalone dvd player on a miniDVD

obviously the player is miniDVD compatible

oh boy! that gave me a sleepless night!
first of all sorry for my english - it's not my natural language!
so here is a little story of mine:
i got all dolby-, thx- and dts-trailers on my harddisk as vob-files but i do not have a dvd-burner.
so in order to test my new homecinema-equipment (believe me: it's nothing fancy at all!) i had to burn a cd including 5.1 sound (ac3).
since i am not an expert in video-editing, -authoring, -encoding and so on (i manage to make very good svcds, but that's all) i started looking for help in the internet.
svcd passed out since i haven't found any way to include ac3 on a svcd.
but minidvd sounded pretty good - although i've never heard about it before. but in all forums they say :"don't know why but minidvd does not work on standalone-players.".
after spending the last night in front of my laptop i know better.
i have not managed to make a first class minidvd yet since my first goals where ac3-sound and compability with my cyberhome dvd302 (okay, stop laughing now).
and so far i did it. since it's running on my lousy dvd-player it will probably run on any dvd-play. i convertet the "wow!-thx-trailer" which is only about 8 minutes.
i cannot say anything about the best reachable video-length or -quality. at this moment i have reached vhs-quality which is not satisfying for dvd-movie-conversion. but this was not my goal from first sight.
since the vob-file is ntsc its framerate of 29,97fps will cost me some bitrate compared to pal but i have not found out yet how to convert from ntsc to pal.
tonight i am going to do some more testing considering ntsc/pal, bitrate and video-quality. but i am very happy to have ac3-sound on a cd so far.
