I think it'd be pretty useful if programs like DVD2AVI, Virtual Dub, or whatever, could resume compression. For example, say you compress half a movie, and your computer crashes. It might be nice if you could then just sorta resume it at the same point which it crashed at, instead of having to start all over again...

A better solution would imho be to prevent your system from crashing.
Are you running Windows 98/ME ? If so you should consider upgrading to Windows NT/2000/XP (or even linux :D )
