difference between the avisynth versions

i see post for 2.0*(5,6, and 7), and i see post that say version 2.5.

I always like to make sure i have the latest updates but it appears that there are different avisynths....Whats the difference...the updates from sourceforge...go with 2.0*.

I just installed Quick AVS...so if i want to keep the dll's up-to-date, then should i be looking at 2.5 stuff or 2.0* stuff...i am confused.

Are the dlls cross compatible? :confused: What does 2.5 do that the other doesnt?

Is there any harm updating a newer version on top of the old or is uninstall a must?

AFAIK, 2.5 is the only one to support YV12

2.5 is quite far from being finished - it's in alpha stage.

Filters are NOT compatible anymore.

Use the newest 2.07 version.

Thanks for the replies...i guess i will do the 2.07 update.

Is it true though i need to uninstall 2.06 before installing 2.07?

No uninstall is needed. Although AviSynth is distributed as a install version there are only simple file copies and reg entries made.
