OK i seem to have some problem with reauthoring multiple PGCs with the IFOUPDATE/CCE/MAESTRO method. First of all as stated in jdobbs guide (JDOBSS WICKED GUIDE AND TOOL MAN THNX FOR THA STUFF)i got my chpaters with saving them as multi-pgc chapters with ifoupdate. Then used DVD2AVI (normal guide as u would use with CCE)....got my d2v and audio that way. Then Re-enocoded the entire d2v file (CCE method) first one pass ..and the mutliple vbr. Naturally added the chapters that i got with the text file from the ifoupdate method into CCE while encoding. Finally it came down to re-authoring everything .....I added my Playslist ..and added the necessary chapters however when my project is compiled....it seems that the first chapter does not correspond as with the original!!......Its three episodes on one DVD and i guess per episode there is one PGC!!Simply do not know what to do...does anyone have any suggestions.......it seems like it just shifts ...as if one chapter the first chapter is missing ....it just skips the first chapter ..and the chapter points in the menu just start from the next point on!!!...Of and ..this is a PAL DVD R2 The Sopranos with naturally a WB logo that starts as the first thing ..could it be that because i reencode the entire movie ...(DVD@AVI) where the logo is included within the encoding that this may cause a shift or something?? I am stuck i really do not know what to do anymore!!! help help!!!

ps: i personally think that the IFOUPDATE/CCE/MAESTRO method is much easier that the scenarist method....considering you only have to encode the entire movie instead of chopping it into many d2v file corresponding to each PGC!!!...So would really like to get to k now this method better.....I finally learned how to use the Single PGC method...and its great ...works like charm:)

@caprioles9000

Please check your PM.

1. Did you use Maestro as the authoring tool?

2. Please give me a step by step of how you authored it.

3. Post the contents of "MULTIPGC-MAESTRO-README.TXT"

I used Maestro to compile my work later .....fits i imported the media assets ...then i imported the .chp file i got from Ifoupdate..after that the subs ..and then i pressed right click on the movie icon on the Three View of maestro and said add playlist
after i got to the playlist screen i added the following chpaters by right clicking on the last input area and by selecting the chapters according to the readme text ..please see the following images that i have attached ....if the attachment does not work i will be sending these images via your pm as well....or via email if you want...Then i just pressed compile ..and then used ifoupadet with its multi-pgc setting to update them .....update goes without a glitch!!! ...Hope that this is detailed enough!!! THNX again for all the help....

PS: if the attachment does not work or you cannot see it ..please send me a mail at cap9000@xs4all.nl...and i'll send you the attachments

I looked at the playlists and it appears you've done everything correctly there. When you say you are off by one chapter -- does that mean that you try to start an episode and it actually starts at what should have been the second chapter in that episode?

Yes exactly ....thats correct ....it seems to link the first chapter button from the menu for the first episode to the second chapter of that episode!!! For example if in the first episode ...the first chapter should be - 00:00:12:20 it shift the first chapter button in the menu to the second chapter which starts at - 00:07:53:17.

Are you positive it is the second chapter? Take a look at the first PGC and see if it starts at 00:07:40.22 or does it actually start at 00:01:35.15...

The reason I ask is that I noticed that the IFO has a one-to-one cell/chapter relationship except the first chapter which has 2 cells. The length of the first cell is 1:35.15. That shouldn't matter, multiple cells in a single chapter is common, but I'm struggling to see anything wrong here...

Also -- is it just when you push the chapter buttons, or does it happen when the episode starts from the main menu as well?

I looked at the first PGC of the original IFO ..and indeed it does start with 00:01:35.15...the first cell start with 00:01:35.15...and then the 2nd cell is 00:07:40.22 ...however this is not so with the authored IFO ..00:01:35.15 (1st cell) is not there in the authored ifo...and it skips to the 2nd cell when i just push the first chapter button for the first episode ...and again in the first chapter button of the second episode...and again on the third episode as well, however when i press play all from the main menu the episodes start of normal with an HBO logo which is how it should be just like in the original and then it just plays the episodes one after the other!!!. It seem to be that it just misses one of these these 2 cells when compiling particluarly the 1 cell.....i guess because the cell is not there it takes the next point and links that to the menu buttons for the chapter episodes!!!Hmmm any ideas further .....is there a posibility to add an extra point or something like that ....funny though in the .chp file that 1st cell chapter point is there ...so when re-authored it should come up .....but i guess that maestro seems to skip it or something and does not add it top the re-authored ifo!!!

It shouldn't have two cells in the resulting newly authored IFO (it could but there is no reason to). If you follow the directions properly the newly authored IFO would have a one-to-one cell/chapter relationship.

I know this is a dumb question, but are you sure you have the "Maestro Multi-PGC" mode set when you do the update? If not it could very well act the way you are describing... especially the part about the episodes playing one after another.

To be honest, it doesn't look like it from the authored IFO I'm seeing, though...

caprioles9000

yes i am sure about the "Maestro Multi-PGC" mode set when i am updating!! Infact these next settings are also checked under the options tab:
Transfer VTS_C_ADT Table
Copy Colour Table in each PGC
Copy Audio and Subpicture Tables
AutoCorrect VTS
Autoset region free
AutoAnalyse Original IFO

Thats why i cannot seen to understand why it would just shift things ...is there a possibility to manually rework the buttons on the chapters menu to other chapter points ..so that i can fix this issue maybe manually or something??? Bummer I am so stuck with this one!!!

JDOBBS !! I have been wondering ..just read in SaragonDVD's post in this forum that he did not add the chapter points while re-encoding with CCE when making a multi-pgc project.......could this be the reason..because i did add the chpaters that i got from the text file from ifoupdate into the ecl file....could this be the reason why things get shifted around???

SaragonDVD said : ( do not add chapters into CCE - ecl file)

All adding the chapters in CCE does is fix the point at which you want an I-Frame to start. If you don't do it you could be off by anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 second (usually not a big deal). I don't see how it could be related to your problem.

I'd get the DVD you are working just to repeat the problem and see what causes this -- but I'm in a region 1 area...

Bummer.......yeah i guess would be difficult on that side of teh world:) ...well if you ever come accross it ...think of me:).....and take a look.....i really cannot understand why it would do this .....well ...i'm gonna try to use the same method with another multi-pgc film ..and lets see if i get teh same issues ..if so ..that means that i am doing something wrong here:)...i'll keep you posted!!
