Hi People
I am starting over again trying to learn how to encode. I want to encode using Divx 4.12. So i would like some help with it. All my dvds are pal and i need some help. As i have read nad been told that most Pal dvds shouldnt need to be ivtc. All my pal dvds are interlaced.
Reading on Doom9 website i read in one of the articles that if your dvd is pal and interlaced you need to check Interlaced box in Nandub/VirtualDub for resizing. On top of that i dont quite get cropping, my dvds are pal 25fps and 720x576 with an aspect ratio of 4:3. What i got told about cropping is what ever you crop, lets say if you are resizing to 512x384, u take 10 off the width, what you are meant to do is do 512-10/16 and if it is a whole number it is right. But if it isnt a hole number its wrong becuase it needs to be a multiple of 16. Is that right.
Also part of my problem is that the source looks unclean, not good compared to others encodes of the same file. I am not to sure what i am doing wrong but i dont know how to go about fixing it.
I am going to attach an image to show you what i mean.
What i have talked about with people is to do this method of encoding, SmartRipper to rip to hdd, I do Video, Japanese Audio and English Subtitles. Dvd2avi hit F5 to do a preview, take note of Type, Aspect ratio and that stuff. Then just make an Dvd2avi project file. Vido, Field Operation is on None, the audio i know how to do.
Correct me if i am doing something wrong so far or if there is a better way to do it. After i made the Dvd2avi project i make a fake avi with VFAPI Converter. Once i can do that i load in into Nandub,
After this is where i start not knowing what i am doing. A friend says that what he does is do a first pass in nandub, after than he uses the stats file in Virtual dub with divx 4.12 but he doesnt give up any of his settings or what he does which makes it harder on me. But if you can help me i would like that alot. Please keep in mind that my dvds are pal and anime.
Thanks for your time
