Just a quick question. If I want to create a SVCD can I put it on to a DVD-R ? If so, does the persons DVD player have to play SVCDs or because it is on a DVD does that mean it will be able to play it anyway ? Also I have found a DVD encoded at 3000K is a lot worse quality then a 2200 SVCD. Is this because a DVD is a higher resolution with bigger sound ? My main problem is that I archive a lot of VHS footage on to DVD. Obviously I don't need amazing sound or high bit-rates. All I need is SVCD quality, but I would like the footage to play on a normal DVD player. Can this be done ? A lot of DVD players can only play DVDs, and not SVCDs, but because most of the stuff I want to archive is 3 hours long per video, I have to use high compression (as I can't use 5K + bitrate due to the length).
