Does any one have any idea on what i can do to compare a movies compressibility with and without cropping. the resolution can change.

here is what i can think of... do a complete encode with cropping, then do another encode without croping then change the resolution to get the part that changes to be the same size the previous one was. then divide the two to get the diffrence.

Ever heard of a compressibility test? 5%, Now. Don't crop, run it, then crop, run it again. Note the difference. :D

thank you i will try it but i want to know it for the whole movie.

the compcheck frameserver IS a representative sample of the whole movie, not just a short clip from the beginning. check 5% and press preview to see what i'm talking about. gknot reads the stats/log file in a special way to eliminate the error coming from all those 'artificial' scene changes. - generally speaking you can trust compcheck. it's been tested extensively by steady, dividee and others and usually should not be off more than ~ 0.03 bits/(pixel*frame) compared to a complete first pass.

for COMPARING different crop, filter and resize settings it's 100% correct anyway...
