Hi all,

I made a lot of my divx with vorbis ogg audio streams without any problems, but recently i have one when playbacking it.

It does not come from the file itself because on my other pc it works fine, and friend of me also have tested and nothing's wrong.

Here (http://membres.lycos.fr/garfield9000/RE_crappy_sound.mp3) you'll find a little mp3 that show you how my ogm sound on my system.

Has anyone got an idea to fix that ? or should i wait for the next format :) ?

I tried reinstalling both Ogg DSF & my Audio drivers but it didn't solve the problems

Thanks in advance.

PS : If you did not understand this topic, please excuse me to be french

I am having exactly the same problem.I listened to your mp3 and it sound very close to my problem.you will find that it is the ogg audio file that is the problem and has nothing to do with OGM container.If you demux your ogm and play the ogg file in winamp it will play fine but if played in your ogm player it will not.I don't have a fix yet but am working on it.This is my thread http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38377

Hi

I am not sure but I think I read that for some people changing the output format from 'IEEE float (32 bit)' to 'integer (16 bit)' in the Vorbis Decoder filter properties would solve some problems with Ogg streams ...

@Kb_cruncher

Oups, sorry, i didn't see your post even with searching.
I've noticed too that in Winamp the ogg file play well.

@Suiryc

I've already tried to change this settings but it didn't works for me.

The probleme appears both with FFDSF and Divx 5.

The most curious is that the problem is completely recent, and i can't find what has changed in my system.

So...i'm gonna keep searching ;)

Thanks for your help

If you read my thread again i have found a solution that works for me and may work for you too.For it to work you will need to instal ZoomPlayer or find out how to set the player you use to use "default direct sound device" instead of "default waveout device"

hope this helps.

Btw., which OS and DirectX version have you guys installed?
Which soundcard/drivers?

May help to track down the issue to a even more generic solution...

By the way,I also found that if you download the ac3filters from http://ac3filter.sourceforge.net/ and run the "set_directsound.bat"included in the zip it will set direct sound for all players by default.

Note:if you run winxp you will need to run the bat file fron the command prompt.You will get an error saying that 'filter merit'is not a valid internal command,but it still works after a reboot.

I know I'm late :p But the problem is that the Vorbis decoder can't handle the Wave-Out device. I reported this to Tobias a long time ago, but he keep forgotting :)

Thanks Blacksun.At first i thought it was a video problem.It took me a while to figure out it was ogg all along.
One strange thing i found was that if i decoded an ogg file to wav,playing the resulting wav with waveout through mediaplayer sent my page file through the roof and i would get an out of memory error(i have my pagefile set to 384mb static),which is strange if this is just an vorbis decoder problem.

Anyway it was a fun learning experience and a good test of my loyalty to a great media format.
