best VGA for TV out??

i want to be able to run video off my HDD and back onto VHS tape.

what would be the best TV out VGA for that ??

currently have a Leadtek mx440 and havent had much of a ply with the TV out yet... but i can get a nice Raddy 8500LE (with 3.3 ns RAM) for a good price and sell my mx440

neither works with TV tool :(

should i save my pennies and go for a ti4200 ???

any experiences, suggestions and advice welcome ...

ATI have the best TV out
with the least problems.

Nvidia haven't got the hang of TVout yet.

PS what software do you use with ATI TV out ?? just the drivers for the card or is their 3rd party software i should be aware of ??

I had ATI Radeon VIVO and must tell that TV out is very good, but with one error - it's not possible to set full size vertical. At least not by PAL versions. Others noted it too.
So now I use good, old Voodoo 3 3500. TV out is vithout any small error.

I use the standard ATI drivers for tv out (radeon AIW)
but play videos/divx through zoomplayer from
www.inmatrix.com because it allows me to zoom
in and out using the + - keys and I can fill
my tv screen with wideangle movies.
(i don't like black bars top and bottem and
prefer to lose a few inches of picture at the sides)

You might like to note that Powered by ATI cards
seem to have less contrast than made by ATI cards.
So buy a real one if you can afford it.

hmmm too late, ordered a Sapphire 8500LE

only $185 and got 3.3 ns RAM :D

we'll see how we go....

you can use the rage3d tweaker to enable a button in the ati driver settings to enable an overscan mode. (but then its a bit to much overscan for me...)
