View Full Version : Ripping Episodic titles with Subs (dvd2svcd freezes)

I'm trying to backup my cowboy bebop set. Each episode is in a different ifo file so I followed the instructions in the FAQ and various threads. Ripped each individual episode into different dirs, then renamed the vobs for all the episodes 2 and above so they continue numerically from the first one. Put them all in the same dir, open up the IFO file for the first episode. The length reads about 30 minutes (instead of 150 minutes, but I understand this is ok). I then disable ripping and start converting.

DVD2SVCD freezes while "Extracting the subtitles"

Here is the log file copied directly from DVD2SVCD before it freezes (the generated logfile is cut short when it freezes)

I've tried doing this with all 5 episodes at once and only the first 2 episodes. I tried doing this without subtitles, it worked. I tried just ripping a single episodes with subtitles, it worked. I've tried playing with the subtitle settings (disabled while ripping then enabling for convert and vice versa). I've tried using perm subs and SVCD subs. Nothing I've tried has worked.

Something I notice is it always seems to fail right after starting on the subs for the 2nd episode (regardless of how many episodes I'm trying to do at once). When I do perm subs and look into the dir with all the BMPs, there are a few BMPs from the second episode (before it freezes)

I'm more or less ready to just forget about it and manually convert the mpv files that are generated into SVCD mpegs and authoring using nero, but if anyone has a way to fix this I'd appreciate it.

First thing you might want to try is get the upgrade to 1.10.1a.
I don't know if it will help, but there was a reason an upgrade was released.

Most likely the sub ripper is getting confused since these are supposed to be seperate videos and you are combining them into one. So the time frames and other info are wrong.
If this is the case I know of no work around. You may be forced to do these as seperate encodes if you need subs.

Where you planning on doing permenent subs? If so you could encode each seperately and then combine them with VCDEasy, TSCV or Nero's SVCD template at burning.

the patch didnt work. it always stops in the exact same place (after doing 3 subs from the 2nd ep)

i'll just rip them individually using the batch mode. thnx.
