I just formatted my computer and can't playback some .mpg/.mpeg files which i could watch before.

They are not SVCD, so therefor should be MPEG1 right? Did i miss out on some codec? As far as i know you shouldn't need to install any specific codec to watch MPEG1 movies.

Does anyone have an idea on what could be wrong?

Thanks

Are u sure they are .mpg?
they could be .asf renamed to .mpg, which is common for downloads, etc.
If they are indeed MPEG1, NanDub/VDub should be able to open them and in turn tell you what the story is. They will not open MPEG2.

Hope this helps.

edit:
Yes, Win9x-NT-2k can open MPEG1 no problem
