I have 2 small questions about MP2 audio to use with (S)VCD
1- What is the best encoder? I always use BeSweet, if ripping from a DVD, and Tmpgenc, if capturing from TV tuner (i chose Audio only and start encoding).
2- Is it possible to use a VBR audio in SVCD? I read somewhere that it's possible, but I have never seen a program that can do it. I just see that TooLame has an experimental VBR mode, but it only use very high bitrates (192 - 244 kbs) while my target is to use a bitrate 32 - 160 kbs joint stereo. I know that a VBR audio should give problems during playback because if total bitrate is too high, can freeze the DVD player, but if I take an average bitrate low enough this problem should be resolved.
I prefer to give more quality to the video instead of audio, but if any program can encode silence at 32kbs and complex soundtracks using an higher bitrate, it sould be better, isn't it?
