you could extract the audio from the quicktime file, i think doom9 has some command-line utility in his downloads that will do this.

I'd like to point out that quicktime does not suck(and that you need a more appropriate title, see rule 9), quicktime is the player and the format(.mov), some of the codecs and encodings do suck though(some are quite good as well). I mean, if you encode a divx file at 50kbps and 320x240 resolution, you're gonna say it sucks too, but you don't say "Windows Media Player sucks" or "AVI files" suck. To be truthful, if we were talking strictly about the player, quicktime on a mac doesn't suck so much, but windows media player on a mac does. And it's the same thing, but backwards, with PC's.

hey
I never said quicktime sucks (even though I think so)
it was a question.
The reason is the they (quicktime) add copy protection to their files
and that I would say sucks.
MPAA....how many times have ppl said they suck?
are they evil....probably not...
they just try to prevent ppl from copying DVD's....am I not right....
and that might again lead ppl to think they suck.....
And regarding the subject title....I'm sorry...never ment to break any rules..

:-)

yeah, i suppose you're right on the copy protection, but it's just a flag that the person encoding can set, unlike microsoft who has created a whole format that is copy protected(asf, etc), so it's really more the companies who encode these films that "suck" and want to keep people from easily editing their movies. anyhow, this has gotten quite off-topic, could you please try the tools i suggest and let us know how it goes? What's your purpose for getting the audio anyhow? you wish to reencode to vcd or somethign?

also...the thread title just helps if it's more descriptive, ya know?

c'mon man, i just went to his downloads and searched for quicktime, i probably shouldn't give you the name of the program if you can't even find it, you'll probably have a heck of a time trying to use it, since it's command-line.....

Mov2Avi - converts Quicktime files to AVI

Simply use the Quicktime Player Pro, Edit->Extract Track :)
