What in the world is this?

H:\------======SVCD======------

Try loosing those spcial characters. I don't know if that is your issue here, but it is known to cause problems with bbmpeg.

Most times there is an issue with Besweet or CCE it is hardware related. Get Prime95 from the Q+A and run it for 24 hours.

I am running XP with SP1 without issue.

Before you go through that hassle of re-installing try the Prime95 torture test. Computers have been known to work fine for months and then suddenly have issues. I can remember one case in particular that DDogg had this happen to him.

I tried installing win2k, same shitty thing happens..must be some hardware problem, but what? I´m gonna clear CMOS on my mobo, but i doubt it will help...

Like markrb stated download a torture test prime95 is a good one, most of the cases the memory was an issue and i've noticed also that people that have 2 sticks of memory versus 1 stick have more trouble with programs in general not just talking about cce or video encoding.

Besweet crashes shortly after it has started...

There is nothing more we can do as it definately seems to be hardware related.
To know for sure you really need to run the Prime95 torture test. If that fails you can try the following.

Slow your system down if you are overclocking.
Make your memory timings less agressive in the bios.
Run a program like memtest to see if it's a memory issue.
Remove 1 stick of memory if you have two.

Other then those items this is really not a hardware site. I would suggest you go to a hardware forum like http://forums.anandtech.com or www.amdmb.com if you use an AMD CPU.

I just tried to run Prime95, but it crashes after ~1 min. So it must be the memory , huh?

Not 100% for sure the memory, but like 90% for sure the memory or some connection to it.

Get memtest or Gold memory and do the other things I suggested.

Then if that doesn't help hit the other sites I mentioned as they are better able to help you with this.
